A THOUSAND HEARTBEATS

By: Kiera Cass

Year: 2023

Genre: Y/A Fantasy, Romance.

Rate: 5 stars.

“Love has a sound. It sounds like a thousand heartbeats happening at the same time.”

Synopsis:

"Princess Annika has lived a life of comfort—but no amount of luxuries can change the fact that her life isn’t her own to control. The king, once her loving father, has gone cold, and Annika will soon be forced into a loveless marriage for political gain.

Miles away, small comforts are few and far between for Lennox. He has devoted his life to the Dahrainian army, hoping to one day help them reclaim the throne that was stolen from them. For Lennox, the idea of love is merely a distraction—nothing will stand in the way of fighting for his people.

But when love, against all odds, finds them both, they are bound by its call. They can’t possibly be together—but the irresistible thrum of a thousand heartbeats won’t let them stay apart.”

Review:

A few years ago, I bought the first book of the selection series, I haven’t read it yet though, and I’m not exactly sure why, but after A Thousand Heartbeats, for sure I need to read anything and everything by this author.

This story has the full package, perfectly written, with a compelling style, beautiful and elegant, with a great plot that flows well at a fast speed. The characters are well portrayed especially our strong heroine. Also, we have the so unique romance.

But I think what I like the most is the character development and the sense of letting go.

It’s enough difficult to write a story about loving the one who hurt us, however between Annika and Lennox is more than love or hate…It’s about redemption and giving permission to yourself feel whatever you need to feel… Cass, wrapped this sea of emotions with an amazing journey where we find war, survivors, friendship, and a little laughter.
